Sentinel HASP is a solution, which provides hardware (USB-keys HASP HL) and software (HASP SL) protection of your programme. Software protection is more commonly used when product is delivered to remote regions or sold via the Internet, also it enables work with product demo-versions (Provisional license), otherwise the hardware protection is recommended.

Product functionality can be extended or modified (after additional firmware of previous key). All types of protection keys have such mentioned option.

Kinds of protection keys

Allocated by the protection key type

  • HASP HL Key (Hardware license) – hardware solution in the form of USB-keychain, physically installed on the recognition server. In this case key can be transferred to other servers without loosing a license. It means, that changing server won't require additional firmware of the key.

  • HASL SL Key (Software license) – software solution in the form of service, installed on the recognition server. In this case the key is linked to the hardware of the server and would require firmware of the protection key again if it should be transferred to other computer.

Allocated by the duration of the key license

  • Constant – with no limitations of duration of the license.

  • Temporary – with limited duration of license valifity. Limitations are divided into several types: by quantity of possibles launches of the programme, by the duration of work with the programme (counting from the date of first launches),by the time of finishing the work of the programme.

Allocated by the content of delivery package

  • Firmwared key – contains licensing for the chosen product. This key will work just with one type and configuration of the product. If Ключ будет рабочим только с данным типом продукта. In case of mismatch of the key and the product and its configuration spesific errors can occure (see Hasp key. Errors description).

  • Pure key (not firmwared yet) – this key needs to be firmwared for appropriate programming system. Key which was not firmwared will not work with any type of product and will cause error messages(see Hasp key. Errors description for detailed information).

Key's distinctive features

Series (Vendor ID) – unique key number, which usually is written on the corp of USB-stick. By the current moment the next series are supported: YWGDI, AAOTB, EOAWT.

Features (Parameters) –define product type (namely, the number of the recognition channels, presense of additional modules etc).

Attention!

Keys, that has defferent series but similar features considered as different keys. It means that versions of pruducts must be protected by appropriate versions (series) of keys to work properly. Similarly, keys, which are from one series, but firmwared with different features, won't work for different product configurations.
